I have been photographing some of my coins for a presentation. I just got to one of my patinated beat up favourites. Its a coin I have always wanted to replace with a better example. Even if I ever got around to getting a proper collectable example I doubt I would ever get rid of this one The patina badly clipped and delamination combine to make the coin attractive to me. I do wonder where they got that crude image of St Mark on the reverse. This coin horrified the Council of 40. As soon as Doge Nicolo Tron kicked the bucket they banned any doges image from ever again looking so regal. The Doge had to be subject to the Serene republic.

Aw, c'mon. It's in YOUR collection, which I think makes it a collectible example (along lines of echizento's remarks).

There are many ugly designs that remain collectible on their other merits, as you've just shown!
(This comes from a collector who has coins of a ruler whose hairy facial warts are shown on his coins)

I like it @AK-- a little out of round, but that just gives it character in my opinion.
