Sometimes even sweat will get into the finger prints, leaving a salty affect on the coin. When the coin all turns brown, to me that is a signal it had lost of finger prints that removed the BU finish. (but that is just my idea)

Quote: And permanent. Pass Reminds of a project I thought about for some time, but never put into motion. Would you pass if was John Wayne's or Raquel Welch's finger print? In other words start a celebrity autographed coin collection using finger prints. Thanks, Doug.

A great example of why we hold & handle our coins on the outside edge.

Once a fingerprint shows, damage to the surface has already occurred.

As fingerprinted coins go, must admit this is pretty spectacular!

It definitely looks etched or baked into the surface. So you think if that cent was part of a crime scene investigation, the guy (person) could be identified?

I have a PCGS slabbed MS 66+ with a faint print above E P you on the reverse, I think its a 1965 circulation strike. The coins unbelievable on the obverse and reverse at one time was "I suppose"stunning. Its pretty obvious why it didn't make 67. When I bought it at auction it didn't show in pics. at home I opened it and let out an ahhhh crap. If I can find it will load pics but doubt I can get the butterfingers eating mint employees print to show. Your example is totally cool and shows what fingerprints do to an MS coin.
