I find It a bit amusing how NGC left out key details of the story and instead turned it into a PR play about how vigilant they are about identifying and pursuing NGC counterfeit holders.
Sometimes details matter.

Womp womp... Not only is he selling fake coins/bars/slabs, he decides to step it up with impersonating a Federal officer. Sure, that'll work!

I decided to check my only NGC graded coin. It is indeed the correct one on their website.

Sometimes details matter. I got the same impression that NGC was instrumental in this until I found the facts by reading other sources. Ironic that another current thread was discussing faith in TPGs based upon the reliability of what TPG websites claim. I would love to have seen a video of how he was actually caught: From http://www.courierpostonline.comQuote: Kirschner also admitted he sold 49 counterfeit silver dollars for $1,000 to two victims at a Mount Laurel Costco in June 2017.
The victims, after realizing they'd been cheated, arranged a second meeting at the Costco store later that month.
For that deal, authorities said, they brought a niece who wanted to buy silver dollars.
Kirschner, who wore a badge and had a knife in his holster, allegedly told the buyers he sometimes worked undercover for the ATF.
The "niece," however, was an actual ATF agent — and Kirschner was arrested after accepting $1,600 for 55 counterfeit coins.

sadly he wasn't of interest while selling counterfeit coins, if he hadn't impersonated an officer he would still likely be slinging his wares. this is not a victory for numismatics, just one for the 'govment
