A local source has this billon stater up on a 'board' auction.
I know absolutely nothing about Celtic coins excepting some of the pre Roman coins of Spain.
The billon is a bit rough and looks like less than 50% silver to my eye
The pics are poor iPhone shots from within ye olde coin shoppe
Opinions ? Value ?
I believe the attribution is correct as I checked Vcoins for very similar looking coins.

Billon staters of the Durotriges are amongst the most reasonably priced of pre Roman Celtic coins, and most easily obtained. They also issued a few base gold staters, which are also amongst the most reasonably priced pre Roman Celtic gold coins.

The Durotriges occupied Southern England, around the Hampshire area.

Yes, it's a Durotriges stater. Looks genuine but very low grade. Coins of similar quality have sold from $8 to $20 on ebay recently. Personally, I would hold out for a better piece. Expect to pay $100++ for an attractive example in good metal. I purchased the coin below at auction several years ago. Ex Isle of Wight Hoard.

I wasn't very excited by it
But when you have "experts" around the globe ready to chime in at the 'drop of a denarius' I figgered it best to
ask !
Actually there is a dynamite Hadrian Alexandrian bronze on the board
That's the one I have my eye on !
Hopefully I will be posting it in the not toooo distant future
Bronze is beautiful

I agree. Bronze has warmth and "personality".

I will post it tomorrow
