Just out of curiousity what does everyone do with the silver coins they find in rolls? Does anyone sell them or just hang on to them? With most dealers paying at least 10x face for silver, has anyone sold anything yet? I took some Canadian silver quarters and dimes in and received $81 US for roughly $13.50 Canadian. Also, since I have many JFK silver clads, I've been thinking of selling the ones in poor shape for 3-4x face. I always like to read the half dollar rolls analysis and love to hear about what people find, but would like to know what everyone is doing with these coins. I hate to thinking of selling some, but with the higher price of silver, now is not a bad time to make a little extra cash for coins that are in bad shape and will never be worth more than current melt value.

I sold 450 silver clads at 4.5x. and 40 90% at 11x. These coins were severely corrided ones.

My goal is to get 50 90% silver Kennedys and at least 100 40%.......I'm not too far from that now......but pickins have been mighty slim for me.
I will sit on mine until I retire.....I'm pretty sure silver will be "up there" pretty good in 30 to 35 years so.......the money I could get for selling these now, will not net me enough to be worth it IMHO......I'm not "hard up" so I'm just keeping them and hoarding all I can for as long as I can.
Instead of casing in $150-$250.00 now, I'd much rather cash in $1,500.00 later in 35 years........

I have some 250 Kennedy half dollars from 1965 through 1980, all of them XF and up. Should I just sit on them? I have them in a box but I don't really collect Kennedy halves...my mom's been keeping them for years.

Your 65-70 are all 40% silver and are worth more than face value. The rest I would maybe pick out a couple really nice specimins and either try to sell the rest on ebay or just dump. You probably won't get much if anything on ebay for them but then again you never know with ebay LOL

Another vote for HOARD! LOL

I'm also sitting my silver until I retire. The predictions for silver are crazy high and, if it does happen, I want to have a nice stash to cash in.

I used to hoard but I couldn't buy any more coins cause my money was all tied up

The only silver I have is in my world collection and a 7070. Anything else that I get whether it be from the bank or auctions, I trade with other members for stuff I really want

OK, I have a silly question. Can you fill me in a little more on the 7070 collection? I hear people talking about those and I am guessing they are for collecting a sample of each variety of coin struck in history? Do you look for the best specimens to fill each category?

That's all I primarily collect. Scrap silver. I have been buying it up a lot lately and a fair amount was from collectors that have no need for a handful of worn out mercurys or roosevelts.

One thing people may need to think about a bit if you are hoarding. If silver does go crazy, you will not get the same price for AG/Cull coins as XF and above. I think most of us have seen those Barber and Mercury dimes that are worn down to thin wafers. If silver goes crazy, buyers are not going to blindly give you 20xface or 40xface. It's going to depend on condition.
So if you're buying to hoard, remember that if cull/AG coins are cheaper now, they'll also get you less in the future - perhaps much less.

I would guess that if the prices get real high, buyers will throw out "20 x face" or whatever and use a weighing scale instead.
