Hello board!
I am not too familiar with commemerative US coins (usually collect Roman Imperials) and I was just wondering about your opinions on the grade/value of this. I picked it up for 10$ at a local flea market.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Sir, and welcome to the forum!

This is a Columbian commemorative half dollar, issued in both 1892 and 1893 to celebrate the World Columbian Exhibition in Chicago. The mintages were high and many were not sold at the time but instead entered circulation at face value. Silver content is equal to that of a standard US silver half dollar. Current melt value is about $6, but these coins sell for somewhat more than melt.

Your coin shows light wear from circulation but retains some luster and has no damage. I'd call it an easy AU-50, maybe a bit higher. For $10 I'd say you got a pretty good deal!

Oh, and should I get it professionally graded or is it not worth it?

$10 to grade a $10 coin. It's your call but I'd pass honestly

I would agree, it's not worth all that much even in MS.
