Hello. I am not a collector and don't know much about coins. I came across this Canadian penny in my grandfather's coin collection. He passed away last year and I am just getting around to looking through the coins. I was thinking of maybe putting this on ebay to make a few bucks. Any info or advice would be very much appreciated! I googled it and this forum popped up. I don't have money at the moment to take it and have it graded, etc. Thanks!

I think that it's a good solid VF-30 ... again worth $5-10 US and not worth certifying. Since the last digit of the date was handpunched into the die, there are some very nice repunched 7's for 1887. Yours appears to be a hi/lo and it may be worth a small premium over a "normal" one. I wouldn't go through the hassle of selling on ebay. I use my excess large cents to give to someone whose birth year is 100 years after the coin date. Find someone who is 31 and you are in luck.
