Came across this Buffalo nickel and it appears to have something Struck through his face. Can I get some more info on what this strike or line is. *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

It looks more like a Lamination, not struck thru. Plus that coin had a meeting with Nic-a-Date!

No. It's completely destroyed in my opinion. Can you make out the date. Show the Obv. and Rev. of the coins the next time you post.

Thanks!
I've thrown Buff's like yours back into circulation in the hopes some little kids finds it and sparks his interest in collecting coins.

That is a "whole coin" immersion in a solution of vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, called "raised date" or "fully restored" by some. As stated, these are altered/damaged and have little value, altho I've seen the key dates go for quite a few dollars at auction.

A Buffalo nickel is considered a Classic coin, so I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention. Please review the forum section descriptions, so posts are made in the correct section.
