The first one is a Large Date Cent, and the Second one is a Small Date Cent. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/...es/1982.html

Look at lettering of IGWT and LIBERTY, smaller on small dates!

Note the differences between the two. Letters smaller/large. Location of devices in relationship to the rim and the bust. Become familiar and you will remember the differences.
