I have a very thin pennie a little thicker than a sheet of paper. I have had it for several years and yes it is stamped on both sides like a regular pennie but it has no rim around the edge. Is this a rare penny. Please let me know thanks.
If it were acid dip would the front and back be worn down. This coin is not shiny but it is clearly stamped. I will post pics later tonight when I get home.
Legit paper thin ones are not to common. That said, damage ones are. As mentioned few things can be the cause either way. Would like to see images and if it shows its not damage after strike the weight would be nice. Thanks, Doug.

Yes, I used to put pennies into Nitric Acid in my chemistry classes to show the students this chemical is a metal "eater." When left in the acid long enough you get a very thin piece of copper with well worn designs on both sides. The rims also disappear.
