I haven't really checked coins with incuse lettering before and am not sure how to interpret what I am seeing. On regular lettering I think I can usually identify MD and DDD but the incuse lettering seems to be a different ball game. Seems to have split serifs. Doesn't seem bench-like. Does reduce devices.
What type of doubling is this on the incuse E. Pluribus Unum letters.

That's Machine Doubling on the incused devices. It's very common on the ATB Quarters. See this thread for more information on incused Machine Doubling. http://goccf.com/t/227708

It is a DDD ( Die Deterioration Doubling), MD quite common.

The devices are raised on the die, so any polishing of the die will alter them. Even die scratches and metal striation lines will show on them.

If you are looking for doubled dies, you won't find them on the outside devices. Only on the center devices. Georges ear or the center of the design on the reverse. The only two areas to look for doubled dies. On the center of the design only! (Other wise your wasting your time) Only one DDO was found on a proof die. On the States coins also the same. Single squeeze dies are only affected on those areas.

It's MD, not a doubled die. Super common on the ATB Quarters.
