Came across this coin roll hunting. I thought it was just a possible double-die at first until I got it under the digital microscope. WOW, this coin is amazing! I tried to research some of the errors on this coin (DDO, counterclash, die chips, die cracks?), but I need Coin Communities input. Sorry for all the pics, but just lots to see. Tell me what you guys think.

I've only been into this hobby for a couple months now. I may be completely wrong about this coin. Am I right to think this is worth getting excited over or is it something that I'm not aware of and just a damaged coin?

It's not a Doubled Die Obverse as there's no doubling present or any other telltale signs. I can see heavy Die Deterioration (die wear), caused by a worn die. The numbers look like they have circulation flattening as well.

Edit: it might have been Struck Through Grease a little bit too.

What's the terminology of the indents on the rim? Also, is the indents in the middle called something different than what's on the rim?

Damage, or more precisely, post-strike damage.

Possibly minor Struck Through Grease on trust and possibly a die crack coming off the top left of the memorial but like everyone said, pretty much the rest of it is PMD. Although that area above cent looks wierd. Almost like a broken window. Kind of like a shattered die. Can anyone tell me what this is or what is cause from.

Just curious, would a double strike cause the cupping of 985 of the date and TRUS in TRUST? Also, would it cause the heavy doubling along the forehead and hair?

That's just heavy Die Deterioration. The die that struck your coin probably should have been retired well before it got to that point.

With all the above.
A combination of Die Deterioration, Struck Through Grease and PMD.
Nothing worth getting too excited about.

Your welcome.
There is always someone here that can help with your questions.
At least that cent had a minor error in that it was Struck Through Grease.
Don't hesitate to post pictures of any other coins you have questions with.
Good luck with your roll searching.

PSD, Die Deterioration, struck through partial fill of grease on the die, the damage on the reverse flattened the date area. Kind of the worst of the worst. So the title is correct.
