I found this 1974 D LMC in my pocket change and I noticed the D mintmark look like a Cud and the letter T in LIBERTY appear to be a partial like the number 7. Looking closer Abe's lips were black so I thinking maybe the coin is damaged and not an error coin. Any thoughts, suggestions?

CUD's are attached to a coin's rim. That is probably the result of a broken post that makes the inner part of the D
The letter T may have been partial Grease Filled Die, but looks like that part of the T might be folded over the center section.

The D was done at the mint. Everything else appears to be PMD.

I agree--yours is a nice example, but these are pretty common.

I agree with the broken post being a minor error but
the T looks like it has taken a hit.

I agree with all above, this is a very common occurrence on all denominations and not unique to Cents.

Yep, a Broken Die Post on the mint mark. It's very common though. Your coin is worth face value.

The MM is caused by a broken post, a minor error. worth face value.

A Cud will look like a bump on the coin's surface attached to the rim. This isn't a duc.

Does this help to identify damage or mint error?

A lot better. It is damaged. You can tell a hit flattened that area.
