I found this yesterday and haven't seen one like this before.
My first thought was that the copper was removed. However, when looking closer, it looks like the zinc is the plating. The front of the coin shows this around the edge. The coin thickness looks a little thicker than a penny.
At first look, it looked like there was a stamp of another coin on the edge of the coin by the date. You can see how the zinc color overlaps.

I'm assuming this was modified outside of the mint, but wanted to get 2nd opinion. Thanks

It is the start of a Dryer Coin. The edge is being smashed exposing zinc core and folded over.

Is the color copper on the edge of the coin? It looks like it was in a bezel. The color to me looks like it is silver in color? If so, the weight should be over 2.5 Grams?

Crazyb That was my first thought as well, Dryer Coin, but then from what I can see both sides of the coin rim should be pretty much effected the same way and it does not appear that they are.

Coop, the edge is silver looking and is 2.3g.

CoinCents,
The sides are different and don't appear to be the same.
I've never seen one like this before.

Thanks
