to the Forum.

If you are referring to the doubling on the USOA devices, they are MD ( Machine Doubling), and on the obverse there is a slight misaligned die.

The E and D (the D mainly) is where I noticed it, and the R seems like the serifs are completely separated

It's Machine Doubling, because the size of the devices are reduced. http://www.error-ref.com/machine-doubling/

to CCF. The reverse is MD. The obverse is a minor MAD with a Rim Fin. It is also a large date and I think it is copper. In 1982 they also made small date and copper plated zinc.

Note all the affected areas are reduced in size by the MD. If it were a doubled die, the devices would be enlarged:

Machine Doubling reduces the size of the devices. Look at the "M & R" on AMERICA. Note that the overall size is reduced. The full strike happens with a normal die and the slightest die movement alters the new device. Making the coin machine doubled.
