I can't tell if there is a mint mark on this coin? If so, what is it?

Thanks in advance,

From the picture I would agree that it appears to be an "S".

The mint mark is right above the "DO" in DOLLAR

Howdy,

no, it's 1878

KarenGinNJ, forgive me, but I was a bit overwhelmed, when I saw your little beauty in the other post.
And so I forget the basics.

All in all is the 1878-S (S for San Francisco) a common date, but for some collectors of this series is your specimen a very sought-after variety.

You can be proud of it.

Let's just say you'd have no trouble at all getting north of $100 for it, on ebay.
