I found this 1944 Wheat penny coin hunting. I could use your guys help please!I'm fairly new at collecting coins so I do apologize for incorrect terminology. The coin appears to have a die crack from right top to lower right. To the right of the crack it is followed bye what looks like a cud( cod)?. If you look closely the Cud looks like a piece of coin. It looks like there is a S in it.However I really appreciate your help in identifying it, and guide me threw the steps of certifying the error. If it is worth doing so. Or what I should do? Thx again

to CCF. It kinda looks like a lamination with the part by TRU peeled back.

John1 has it, lamination with part of the lamination folded back on itself. Now worth certifying. Would cost more than it's worth.

That's a lamination defect. Not worth submitting to a TPG, but is a nice error nonetheless.

I agree it is a lamination. How can we tell? The line on the right side is where the metal is separating. The area closer to the rim on TRUST is where it started peeling. Probably the lamination was loosened when the setup process rolled up the rim on the area during the set up process, changing it from a blank into a planchet. After struck then later, peeling away from the coin.

First,

Would you be also willing to post a photo of the reverse of the coin? Thanks!
