@Nobile03, well that is a bit unusual. Does this area stick above the surface of the coin (as opposed to being incuse)? It could be an odd-shaped lamination, but doesn't really look like a dropped letter or damage to me with these pics. I'm interested to hear what others think.

I think what you're seeing around the rim is Die periphery wear. As far as the R, I believe that is a well placed hit with the metal flow spreading the way it has or it may be delamination.

Looks like the metal is peeling away in the spot above "Liberty"...de-lam.

That's a small Delamination above "LIBERTY".

Or a struck through debris that is giving away. The straight line is not appearing, so the debris struck through seems more logical to me.
