I took them myself and a few other pictures when 4 of us guys went to NYC a few years ago. It was a somber place standing by the fountains but to look up at the Freedom Tower was reassuring. Battery Park Eagle Sculpture  |

Not only pause to just remember the victims, as horrible as that atrocity was. Remember those who RAN BACK into the jaws of certain death, those first responders and people like you and I, who would help those less fortunate to escape, stay with a trapped comrade until the end, even go back time and again in rescue attempts until they too became lost.... Those are the Heros. Those who stood up to adversity and boldly looked evil straight in the eye. Courage to do what's right, in spite of, not because of. That's guts, that's courage,... and that's love.

Can't believe it was 17 years ago; like many others I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I first heard the news. I remember telling my wife that we had to put the flag out at our house the day it happened and we have repeated that every year since on 9/11. Today is also a Tuesday, same day of the week as the attack occurred.

We were watching it on TV when the second plane hit - it was unbelievable and sad.  |
