So this coin has to be fake. Right? The odds of it being real are so astronomical. For the mint to have used a reverse die 21 years later. I have read that there are counterfiet 1934 buffaloes but couldn't locate any images
to confirm, now I've spent some time closely examining this coins reverse comparing it to a 1913 rev and it is a really good fake. But still hopeful that's its genuine. has anyone out there seen or heard of this? I included a comparison shot with a dateless buffalo, I'm still learning a lot from reading other posts and topics, and eager to learn more, I recently got back into coins and remembered how truly intriguing it is to me. Help as always is greatly appreciated.

Look at the seam above UNITED...

And file marks on edge, and rounded outer lip of rim, and loss of edge detail on reverse, and... You see exactly how it was made, a cored out 1934, cut down 1913 then folder over excess lip and hammered over. Missed that area by UNITED tho.

What a waste of a nice 1913P Ty 1!

Coupled with the grainy surfaces and off color, you know what you've got

It is very cool and, agreed, it's hard to figure how the faker thought he would fool anyone.

Looks like a Magician coin setup that went terribly wrong.

He ruined two coins making that. (Probably the obverse of the 1913 was missing the date?)

Yep, that's a poorly made Magician's coin.

I envision a magician's incision, revision, and collision ending in derision of the magician.

A Magician's coin has a surprise to the unaided eye on the opposite side. This deserves a different description.

Who but a knowledgeable coin collector would be surprised by this?

Not a Magician's coin.

On CCF, a Buffalo nickel is considered a classic coin, so I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention.

Please review the forum section descriptions, so posts are made in the correct section.

I don't even believe it is a Magicians coin. I think it is an outright fake Odd mushy blurred designs on both sides, and the fields don't loke right on the reverse for a 1913 issue.
