I purchased it yesterday a the coin store in Houston, didn't have one of them and I don't know if I was ever going to find one of them searching, how do they come across these errors?

Interesting error indeed, nice! These are usually found in original bags, before entering the rolled coin stream. The size and shapes get rejected from the machines very early on. Never make it to a bank roll, much less someone's grubby fingers.

Very nice uruman! !

I often wondered how many different "legitimate" mint errors could be found on one coin.

thanks Crazyb0 and USSID18, then if they are found in the original bags how do they get to dealers if they get rejected early on?

A dealer I know once bought a large lot of errors from someone that worked at a place that rolled coin from mint bags. I'm not sure if they worked at a bank or the Fed. There were bunches of off centers and a number of die caps in the lot.
Also , before the mint started waffle canceling error coins , they sold these coins as scrap metal .
Coins like this https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...ter.all.html would never make it to a bag

I seem to recall 2001 as the beginning of the pallet bags of coins. The end of the era of bag coins from mint until the State Quarters series. They sold small and bags of these quarters back then. I bought one bag of 100 quarters and they were a waste of money. They came in a small bag and a box like the two roll mint cents of 2009, The coins looked like they postman shook the box like a tambourine all they way to my house. Never again did I buy the mint sets or these bags again. The OBW rolls coin were in much better condition than to order them from the mint.
