Of all the various slabs in the marketplace over the years, the little white ANACS "soapbox" style is my favorite sized, and the SEGS label that wraps over the top are in my opinion the best of all of them, I'd love to see a combination of that old ANACS and the SEGS holder combined.

Since acetone cannot chemically or physically react with silver, I cannot understand how contact with acetone would make the metal look "cleaned."

Letting a coin sit inside a small volume of acetone (like a baby food jar that has a cover so the acetone won't evaporate) and then removing the coin is the best way to use acetone since a Q-tip and rubbing can push around hardened foreign particles and scratch up a coin.

Posting two - one for each post:

I really like Canadian nickels for their diversity in shape, metal differences, and color starting in 1937. What the following summary does not tell you is that for some reason the RCM encapsulated this coin in a clear rubbery substance that bulges outward distorting the design (fisheye effect). So its a challenge to get a decent picture - especially since it's a proof coin!

This coin is unusually interesting b/c of the design details, hidden message, and history.

I have always enjoyed the cool "hidden message" around the rim of this design in Morse Code (expand the image and see it explained).
The V is not only the coin's denomination, but also was meant to represent the V for Victory symbol of WW II. Low mintage of only 6,065 is a plus also.







Here is the rubbery clear coating. The coin was "glued" to what I can best describe is half of a 2X2 holder embedded in the book's cover.
I wish the RCM had put it in a capsule instead.

Since mine has a slight smudge on it, I would like to know a way of removing the coating, but not sure if that would be safe to do for the gold plated part? Any help from our Northern Neighbors appreciated!
