I have this 1989 D LMC that looks as if it has a light split serif on the C in AMERICA. There is only one DDR for the 1989 D that I could find and it is on Copper Coin but this doesn't show the same characteristics as this cent in question. The only one that I can find that it comes close to is the 1989 P DDR-001 but that one has light splits on RICA in the bottom right corners. The only thing this on this 1989 D that I am seeing is the bottom right corner of the C which matches up with the 1989 P DDR-001 almost perfectly. I do not think this came from a hit but could be wrong. The last pic was borrowed from V.V. Insight please!

It probably is John1, I just really can't see were a Doubled Die could happen to just one device. And, the fact that I couldn't really match it to anything tells me it isn't. The only thing that compelled me to post this was the C has the uncanny resemblance to the 1989 P, but only the C in AMERICA and nothing else.

It was pretty notorious to happen on those years.

A contact mark at best. No notching. The RDV-006 dies have larger devices on the reverses.

When you see them side by side with the 005 and 006, then you will spot the differences. Round letters on AMERICA on the 005. Squared letters on the 006 on AMERICA. The Mint marks are different and in different locations. So it is a normal 006 reverse.
