Well, These aren't paper money and they aren't exactly tokens, but I think that they are a medium of exchange in place of money, so this is probably the best place for them. They were printed by The American Bank Note Co of New York, so I'll try this catagory. I hope others enjoy. I had posted earlier that I had acquired the Benjamin Franklin Ticket.  I deliberately grabbed this batch today, which look similar in grade with my Franklin, which is harder to obtain than these four. While these show some wear from being saved about 125 years, they still show a well preserved but attractive honest old age.     The Handel ticket I do not own yet which would be the key and last of this series. I didn't think I'd get these and did, so Handel might find his way to this group someday. Happ Columbus Day! |

It appears those 10 were the main tickets that were sold and it appears people consider that the main "set", but then there are other special tickets for particular events or exhibits, exhibitors, a re-entry ticket. There's even encased mini tickets in tokens. I saw a book about these various tickets for sale. It probably shows all of them if not almost all. I could be satisfied with these, just as they are. I'd have to find some great deals to move on from here. My direction is probably looking for Pan Pacific, St. Louis World's Fair and Jamestown in the meantime. I think one could easily make a full time hobby out of this area of collecting alone. Notice there are "A" on some printings. My Franklin has the "A". So even with the main 6 tickets, one could collect 12. Those with A and those without. Thanks everyone again for the compliments. Edited by TNG

You just had to ask John1 ... didn't you?  So I got to thinking that I saw a scarce one and went back and found the Chicago Child's Ticket and even offered less and it was accepted. Well, we can just have that oddball and not surround it with the rest so I dug around and got the other main four that will blend right in with what I have shown in post 1. I suppose I'll be watching for Handel after all.  But I can be tighter than the skin on a Hot Dog with buying sometimes. If you are looking at Chicago Day tickets, they almost all look like the one above but you can cherry pick one if you look closely. Good luck finding one cheap. 1893 Columbian Exposition Chicago Day Child's Ticket I think I did well doubling my collection for $68.30 shipped. I'd gladly trade them all in and take you guys to the fair with these if I could but it's over now.  Edited by TNG

I see these from time to time, sometimes graded but most of the time not. Ticket collectors love them and display them alongside tickets to political conventions. Very interesting times, which led me to pickup this related poster. This is the largest intaglio printed piece I own. It measures a little over 24" X 18" , and was printed by the BEP.   |
