I am new to Greek coin. I am very interested in getting a Alexander III tetradrachm as type coin in VF range. What will a common mint Alexander III tetradrachm cost? I found one dealer on ebay :

Who has a large collection of NGC slabbed coins.
Has anyone deal with this seller before? And how is the seller? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

It is probably much better to check out the range on Vcoins - All the dealers there are trustworthy and you have alot of come-back if you are not happy. You will also be paying for the coin and not the slab. A slabbed ancient is a bit of an anathma really - you can't encapsulate all the different aspects of an ancient hammered coin into a number (that is really used as an artificial form of rariety) to help treat a coin as a commodity.

I don't know about the relative pricing of these coins, but $550 to $625 doesn't seem totally out of line to me. I bought my coin for around $700 from Classical Numismatic Group (CNG) a few years ago and the prices seem to have gone up. Mine was sold as "good EF" and is from the Side mint which I think is a less-common mint and may add a bit to the price. I would recommend CNG as a trustworthy dealer but I don't think they will be the cheapest. They have a nice website.

I've posted my Alexander before, but this seems like an opportunity to put it up again!
