Hi all,

I would appreciate help in identifying this old coin.

It is in rough shape, but it appears to have Britannia on one side so I am guessing it is British. It is very thin and weighs about 1.3g. It's about 5/8" across....about the size of a modern farthing. much thinner though.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hadn't thought of that....makes complete sense tough as "Blacksmith" tokens are well known here in Canada. The bust faces the wrong way for George III though doesn't it.....so George IV? Maybe I will see if I can get the moderators to move this to a North American forum.

An effigy facing right would be correct for George III. However, I'd point out that there were some Roman issues that featured a representation of Brittania on the reverse. To me this rather has the appearance of one of those, or a reproduction of such.
