No and there's a good size spot of verdigris on the reverse. The holder also obscures about 60 degrees of the top of the rim on both sides. The price is a bit low for an AU55 for a good reason. Save your money and save a few more bucks for an NGC or PCGS piece.

To be honest with you, I have no problem with the grade on this coin, its appearance, or the price.

Good size spot? That little thing - take care of that with Verdi-Care. That seems like a very nice FE cent condition wise. $150 is around an average price for that coin.

I reported this auction and you should too. It is in direct violation of ebay coin listing policy (Non-accredited slabber displaying a numeric grade). You could crack it out of the "slab" to treat the verdigris. At least then you would find out if there is damage on the parts of the rim that are hidden by the slab. USCG is a self-slabber and is not a legitimate third party grader. PCGS and NGC certified pieces are available for little more money. The OP is asking for advice. The prudent advice is to avoid this coin or at least buy it a raw coin with a return privilege.

I don't look at a lot of these flying eagles, but I can guarantee that coin will not grade as this basement slab suggests. That said, this seller has a great reputation so if I were seriously considering this coin for an acquisition, I would ask the seller first. He knows why it's discounted and I suspect he will be a straight shooter if you inquire.

And if you're friendly and honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he came down in price.

USCG is a basement slabbing company. From what I can see the coin isn't terribly bad except for the small amount of verdigris on the reverse. The holder might be obscuring some rim issues.

OK - say this exact coin was pictured as a raw coin (Which in reality, with that so called TPG, it actualy is) who would consider buying it? Or would you still run around flapping your arms screaming "DON"T BUY IT? I would consider buying it for that price.

Well, I'd buy it for the right price. Only thing that could be hidden is the rim. The rest looks okay to me.
