No. What you are seeing is caused by wear to the die striking the coins, known as Die Deterioration. The specific effect I see can be called a "ridge rim." It is very common among zinc cents.

That sort of doubling on the rim is very common for coins in the 80's. I've never really received a decent explanation for that. I used to think it was odd so I collected lots of them but stopped when I saw how common they were. So much sort of die problems with those creating that sort of doubling effect.

Referred to as a "rim ring", it's a result of Die Deterioration. Nothing special, it's very common.

Also the reverse has some MD. So with the Die Deterioration and the MD you have the worst of three worlds on the same coin. Something to note: The devices are actually a bit smaller from die abrasion. If this were a doubled die, the devices should be larger. But the coin is from a normal die that has been polished, die aging and after the strike die movement that damaged the devices.
