They are part of a 4 step process, just to create the die: The hubs are positives: Hubs being positives, look like a struck coin. The dies are negatives: Hubs are pressed into the stock material to create dies: Hubs have lugs on them. They are incuse on the hub and raised on the die: After the hub is created, it needs to be reduced to the correct size: Polished: Inspected: They are setup in the hammer and anvil set ups: Put into storage till needed: Proof dies now laser frosted: This is just a condensed version of the die making process.
