Apparently, I'll be getting my halves set tomorrow but will have to wait on the 5-oz. Looking forward to seeing the two-coin set. The US Mint really showed some clever thinking coming up with the special finish Kennedy half dollar paired with the Apollo half. And the price point isn't bad either!

Quote: And the price point isn't bad either! I'm going to have to disagree. $54 for a proof half and an enhanced reverse proof half is a complete gouge. The new Innovations proof dollar was $7 and the mint still made money on it. I do understand that a $5 donation is made for each commemorative half sold, but at $54 the donation really should have been about $40. Seriously, the mint is making a killing while the charity gets a small fraction of the profit.

My order including my five ounce proofs will be here tomorrow. I am not sure what to expect on my engraved print though. I have that as an enrollment and called to speak with them about it and they said that it is currently on backorder. They told me on the phone that I would definitely get mine, but I had to wait until more were available. I wonder if this item will only be available to the enrollment program now that it shows sold out?

I also thought the price was a tad high for two clad coins but the 100k Kennedy made me order some. Shipped and will be here eventually
Saucers will arrive on Thursday...

There's an ebay seller who says they have an Apollo/Kennedy set in hand and that there is an error in the writeup on the package. The seller is trying to sell the set as a potential "uncommon variety" assuming that the Mint corrects the error in subsequent packages According to the seller, the packaging states that Gilroy Roberts designed both the obverse and reverse of the coin and doesn't credit the reverse to Frank Gasparro as it should. I haven't seen an actual package, but I'll assume the seller is correct and the typo exists in the packaging. I have my doubts as to this eventually becoming anything that commands a premium, but I guess you can't tell for sure with some folks seemingly as interested in the OGP as they are in the coins themselves

^ The picture on the US Mint site also has the 'error'. I guess if they correct it, the correct one will be the scarce one... from ebay seller: from the US Mint:

So this came today, just waiting on a couple of saucers. A long wait at that.

Nice, Taphandle! I just signed for mine too.
And by the way, if there was any doubt, the capsules are curved.

Half Dollar set up to 69,155
Saucers 60,489
..and re: boo boo packaging. They have sold almost 70k of these half sets and they are not on backorder so I doubt they will change the packaging on the remainder. Probably all packaged by now

You never know what people find interesting or how much they'll pay until you ask... Hats off to the seller for trying! Off-topic: This reminds me of a "mule" album that I have. It's Waylon & Willie, and side one is pressed alright, but side two is pressed with a John Denver album. I never tried to sell it so who knows what it's worth, but I'm sure somebody will want it...!

Taphandle- can the half dollar coins be easily removed from the packaging or will doing so damage it?

The packaging typo is real, but it very likely is on every single one.
