After a long search, I finally found a nice $1 1935 (Plain) SC star note for my ongoing set. This is the toughest star in the entire run, save for the mule of the same issue, which is way out of my league. It's the crown jewel, or nearly so, of this long-running series (1935-1965).

Check out that serial number - back plate # is 22, so this one is no doubt a very early issue.

Thanks for looking!

Very nice note.

I thought the 1928-C, D, E silvers were the toughest of the small size stars.

I thought the 1935 R and S experimental stars were the toughest. Anyway, nice pickup.

Nice note...the rev. margins are much better centered than the obverse.

Thanks everyone for their comments. I should have mentioned (as I have in the past with different stars from this set) that I am only collecting the regular-issue 1935 stars and not the experimental notes or the 1928/1934 series. Even I am not mad enough to do that!
