Looks kind of like a worn die to me, I see no split on the serifs.

chrsb,

The letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM on the reverse of a wheat ears cent doesn't have serifs, so that might be a good reason not to see any split serifs:-)

Placasador, if it is possible to get a picture of a few letters at the same time and with better light, I might be able to help you.

Thanks,
Bill

Classic Machine Doubling. The area that appears doubled is flat toward the right side of the UNUM. Die movement, not die doubling. Here is an image of a doubled die. Note the differences from your coin and this image.
1935-Wheat
Note the thicker devices? How the lower part of the L on PLUIBUS and U on UNUM make the lower 1/2 of those letters. Also note the Dots. They are egg shaped. Also the right wheat lines. They are wider and almost overlap. The wheat stems at the bottom on both sides are thicker. But with the thickened devices, you see no flat areas to make them appear doubled. The hubbing made these devices wider on the die, not the movement of the die to make it appear doubled. Hope this helps.

Agreed - not a doubled die. It's Machine Doubling.

I agree with CC and others. There is no indication of the coin having been struck by a doubled die.

Thanks,
Bill
