Quote: I've a question.... Isn't a Proof coin a "type" of coin Proof is a type of minting process. For the purpose of a type set, the types are denoted by a major metal or design change only which is why proofs are strictly optional. In my 7070, all of the moderns are proofs. I would never place a really valuable proof in the album though- my two most expensive ones would be a Silver Eagle(purchased at the Denver Mint) and a Lewis and Clark commem $1(Christmas present from wife).

Good luck on your 7070 set. I try and obtain the nicest XF/AU coins I can for the more difficult early coins (Bust, Seated, 20crnt etc). I figure I can always go back and fill in the common stuff in high grade. The hunt is the fun part. I have no proof coins in my set and have none broken out of slabs.

Okay, so I received my album today (I ended up buying a very lightly used one, since my coin collecting is still on a tight budget), and to my (slight) disappointment, it was an old style one...page 4 only had holes for the Bicentennials and a 1979 SBA. So I'm guessing it's a 1979 Dansco? The titles of all the pages are a bit different than the current danscos (the title of the coin is above the hole, and the year(s) are below). Anyone have an extra current page 4? ANYWAYS, I'm happy to have a 7070, and I'll upgrade to a newer version one soon...but I was so happy to start filling the holes Now I must make a trip to the coin store this week to start shopping in earnest And yeah, for the older/harder to find stuff, I'm gonna try and go for XF/AU if it is within my budget...we'll see tho...

It appears that you have the same 7070 that I have, but my "Bicentennials + SBA" is page five? I got mine in 1993. Here is a link to the updated replacement page at Wizard Coin Supply. They call it page six, but as I said in my book it is page five. http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/pro...ge.html#tabs

I have wanted to start a 7070 since I first heard of them on here, but didn't see the point when all I had to put in it was modern 'junk'. Now that I have aquired some older examples I only need to order the dern thing, but I keep spending the $20 on coins instead .

I didn't order my album until I had acquired all the coins. Putting them all in at once was a dramatic feeling of accomplishment.

jbuck - thanks for the link! I'll have to order my updated page...and yeah, I think mine is page 5 too...just had a late-night typo last night =)
okie-colin - I totally can see what your talking about...having put in the meager amount of coins that I have for my fledgling type set, it seems very daunting to have so many holes (an not so much coin $$$)...ah well, I knew this would be a long-term on going portion of my collection.
