Just got the first shipment of large cents in after many, many days of searching. Which websites do you guys recommend for identifying varieties? Or would you recommend purchasing a book?

I'm with @kanga on this one. I love my copy of Early American Cents!

I agree that books are the best way to ID these coins ... but ... this site is a pretty good one to ID most varieties from someone's personal collection. I like to use it as a quik guide. Let me know what you think.

I also prefer the books and have three. Sheldon for the early years, Wright for the middle years, and Grellman for the later years. The web sites that were suggested will also help to determine the coin's variety. I use them after looking at the book.

I'm not an expert but I find it easy and fun working with the earlier years. Once you get to the 1840's and beyond determining the variety can get very difficult.
