MD usually makes the lettering smaller, correct? I don't see the lettering being smaller.

MD is shelf like, right? These letters appear to have depth.

Thoughts?

Look at the 'E'. Note the bottom horizontal is the normal size, the upper two are reduced with Machine Doubling. Not a doubled die. Altered by the machine after the strike.
