last night I picked just $0.94 in well-scattered change, fell a bit short of my hoped-for dollar, but close enough to keep me from being too surly about it..
(and- lucky me- I also scored a fresh, unopened bag of french onion sun chips, a $4.49 item, someone left them on a gulfside bench along north roosevelt blvd.. I LOVE sun chips, it's one of my favorite munchies that I rarely buy)
(edit, a little while later:)
..i referenced my 'coins' photo album after sending pix of that 1941 jeffie to a friend.. it seemed to me like I've picked numerous old jeffies from the pavements over the last several years and I wanted to find those pix and count how many..
1957-D x2, 1954-D, 1953-D x2, 1949, 1948-S, 1941 x2, 1940, 1939
11.. and there could be a few more that I never took pix of..

..and it just continues to pile up. tonight I picked $1.54 in well-scattered change. pictured is my last pick of the night: 4 dimes and 6 nickels from a soda machine coin return.. they were all stuck in the chute. when I check soda machine coin returns I kind of corkscrew my finger up into the chute. coins frequently get stuck in the chute, I have noticed over time. my finger loosens them and they fall into the cup, it's like a minor payout at a slot machine. no interesting coins, just another buck-fifty-four added to the coffer. 2 weeks and 4 days to go.

last week I picked a total of $7.18, all well-scattered change.. the daily average is still trundling along at just a speck over a dollar a day. friday was rain, I never got a chance to do any searching, all I got was soaked (but all kitties were fed, just prior to the deluge). so friday was a soggy zero. no FRNs and no interesting coins , but on thursday night I scored a fresh, unopened bag of cape cod potato chips w/sea salt (very yummy) and saturday night I scored two fresh, unopened bags of ritz toasted chips (very crispy, but bland.. needs a dip or cheese or something to accompany it). there were four bags sitting there, but I only took two of them. didn't want to be piggy about it. twelve days to go, running total at $274.43.

Wow, Mr. Pink! In the last week you've scored Sun chips, Cape Cod chips, and Ritz chips (and $$$). Way better than some of the other snacks you've rescued.

Way better than some of the other snacks you've rescued. yep.. the weird irony is that just a few days ago while grocery shopping I bought myself a box of ritz crackers and two boxes of triscuits. LOL, now I'm loaded-up on crunchables. last night kicked-off with pickin' a dime & quarter from a publix parking space.. love those gleaming disks.. the search dragged along for a while before I picked my next coins, four zincolns & a dime. then nothing for a little while. I was on the last 1/3 of the route and had just forty-nine cents in my pocket. it was looking like a sub-dollar night and I was starting to get crabby about it, but I persisted. as I got closer to the end of the route I began finding more, the well-scattered change just suddenly ramped up.. within a span of maybe fifteen minutes I picked sixty-six cents near taco bell, thirty-five cents near popeye's, a quarter near winn-dixie, fifty cents from a soda machine, a tidy pile of zincolns near circle k.. I ended up with $2.23 on the night. my first $2+ night in weeks.. patience pays!

last night I picked two dimes and a zincoln as I was riding around finding & feeding the cats. I was prepared for finding little-to-nothing; I saw that we had rain incoming and I really just wanted to dodge a soaking... skip most of the hunt, get the cats fed & go home, resuming my usual search once the weather improves. on my way to the last cats it rained very lightly & very briefly, just enough to wet all the pavements on that side of the island, effectively wrecking looking for pavement coins, but I still had a number of things & places I could check as I rode in the direction of home.. so despite the rain- without the benefit of searching all the big parking lots- I ended up picking a total of $1.79 in well-scattered change, very little of it from the pavements. it was one of the better rain nights I've had. lucky to find anything at all on a rain night. and I picked two interesting coins.. another bicentennial quarter: ..and.. a 2005-P bison nickel.
