Most of the examples I've seen, have been yellowed over time.
The paper & ink on your's looks legit, though. Unless

Variations include notes printed on both thin and thick paper. It appears authentic with a bold serial number and signatures. Edges and corners look good and it might have some original embossing. I'd be tempted to have it authenticated and graded. OP's note appears to be on thicker paper. You can see other examples here; https://currency.ha.com/c/search-re...h-A-K-071316

$250 must have been a fortune at the time right?

Similar notes are auctioned at Heritage quite frequently it seems. There were 8 notes this month alone, so apparently they aren't as scarce as you would think. Prices seem to be in the $150 to $300 range in F to XF condition.

Very cool note! Newman's catalog states that there are deliberate misspellings and omitted words used for security purposes. Kinda strange that they would make it with an error on purpose, but there you go. Probably worth a lot more now than then, given it was only worth 1 40th of a Spanish Milled Dollar/specie. Inflation was pretty bad around that time, too. There were 18,249 of these notes printed and issued, and were soon demonetized, so there were likely a number of them just put away as an old piece of paper not worth anything for quite a long time. It amazes me that this era of American paper currency isn't more popular, and maintains a relatively cheap price, especially given it's history and scarcity for certain issues. If there were a print run of only 18,249 of a dollar bill issued today, they'd be worth so much more. But on the bright side, I was able to assemble a set from all 13 colonies and a couple Continentals without too much fuss.

Quote: So is no body take a swing on what they on the value of this would be? I can handle it I tend to stay away from guesstimates when I'm unfamiliar with the note posted. I own zero of these, and haven't gotten around to reading up on them yet. I'm curious, are you asking to see if you got a good deal, or are you asking because you're thinking about buying it ?

If this is the first time you've overpaid for something you wanted then welcome to the club!
We have ALL overpaid for stuff at one time or another. Goes with the territory!
