Hello,

Was wondering if anyone has seen this before a circulated 1998 dime that looks like it was made of zinc. I thought it was dirty but I feel heaver than a regular dime. Can you please let me know what you think?

@madera213, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @RCD that your dime most likely has surface discoloration from environmental exposure. If you have access to a good scale, then weigh it and we will see if it might be anything else. Thx.

Ahh the problem with "feeling". If it was made of zinc it would be 20% LIGHTER.

Weight of both are well within tolerance for coppernickel clad.

Your 2.32g coin is within the accepted tolerance of 2.27g +/- .09g. And if you can differentiate the .05 gram that your coin exhibits by TOUCH, you are an X-man of some sort.
