I found this Bicentenial Kennedy half while roll searching and found it a bit odd. Is this what they call a die adjustment strike or is it weakly struck? Or is it nothing special? Any help would be much appreciated. - XoG

It doesn't look authentic. The coin lacks the proto-rim of the original planchet, the "unstruck" areas lack tumbling marks, and Kennedy's head is too flat. Methinks it was buffed down.

I agree with the pocket piece scenario. I think it is heavily worn and has been thoroughly "thumbed" over the years.

If some folks remember, "worry beads"...Some folks just thumb a coin to relieve tension.

Anyway, however it got worn, that's what I see.

Have Fun,
Bill
