Keep in mind, that devices flow in the direction of the closest rim. Nothing is doubled, just the design is moving in that direction. Machine Doubling can happen on any side of devices. And as mentioned both can affect a coin at the same time.

Thank you,i figured since I'm having a hard time recognizing what IS a doubled die, I'm trying to find good examples of what is NOT a doubled die to compare against. So this one should be marked as Die Deterioration correct?

Also slight MD as well. Look for doubled dies on the tops of the devices.

On some doubled dies you can see them wider/taller/showing notches or some look like over inflated inner tubes. (the newer single squeeze devices)
Wider is the example above:

Taller:

Notches:

Over inflated devices:

When your looking for doubled dies, don't look on the edges of the devices. Die wear/deterioration and Machine Doubling happen there.

I am sure it's simple and I just haven't figured it out yet BUT,
I see DDO DDD, I hear MD is NOT DD, yet it appears here in this thread everyone is referring to DD, when what I see is what everyone has been referring to a MD. I thought DD was extremely RARE. I've not heard the phrase DDD before. Coop, in the third and fourth photo you posted the lower examples are marked DDO, aren't they actually MD ? Now I understand DD is when the master die in it's soft state is actually double stamped. Is that what has happened in the two examples you posted photo 3 and 4.
Confused in California.

Dan
