This seems to be a fairly common RPM. I'm a bit surprised that no markers have been identified for this variety. I'm posting this in the hope that someone else who has RPM-004 can compare coins to see if any markers can be identified. The only possible markers I've seen are (1) the die pllishing lines N-S and NW-SE from the chin and (2) the die polishing lines SE-NW between the Buffalo's head and UNITED, but I don't have another example handy for comparison.

Here are the mug shots:

Here is the mm position:

And details of the mm. There is a lot of distracting metal flow around the mm, but the D/D NW on this variety exists as a tilted SW corner of the secondary D.

I'm not seeing RPM-004 here. Looks like a contact mark or damage to the bottom left of the mintmark.

Tanman2001, the coin has quite a bit of surface damage. Here's what I saw with the mm:

I had two of the RPM-004 last year, but they both sold. They were much sharper than this coin, and left no doubt. I yield to your expertise on this one. I wonder, though, if it isn't the RPM-004, what is the extension of the mm to the W/SW? The hit clearly destroyed the bottom of the mm, but shouldn't have affected the west side above the lower serif. Thoughts? Anything? Nothingbuger?

Happy New Year, my friend! I appreciate your input!

RPM-004 has clear separation between the two mintmark punches, I don't see that on your coin. I think the damage may have flattened part of the mintmark and pushed some metal over to the west.

It could be that damage has obscured most of the RPM, but mintmark location doesn't match. Draw a line from the leftmost tip of the bottom serif to the leftmost tip of the upper serif and bring that line up through FIVE CENTS. On your coin, this line would just barely touch the E in ONE if at all. While if we draw the same line on RPM-004, from serif to serif and upwards, the line clearly goes through the E.

Happy New Years to you as well!

Tanman2001, Thank you!!!

At the show where I sold the two 004's, the customer who bought them is also a vest pocket dealer. He had a beautiful full-strike AU 55+ 1915-D buff. It took some haggling, but I brought that one home with me. My wife gave me "that look" and the lecture that started with "at your age . . ." But it looks nice in my Dansco. For Christmas, Santa brought her an EF 1946-C Newfoundland five cent, completing her Canadian Provincial collection, so all is forgiven.
