Do you envision any scenario where these will command a premium?

No. Other than very high grade pieces (69 & 70) certified by top TPG there is little chance for a premium above melt value. Millions were minted and they never circulated.

I agree - these are common as everyday coins and their total distributed mintage far exceeds any current demand for them.

Perhaps a PCGS certified MS69/70 example might have some price appreciation hope - but even then not much IMHO.

I have maybe a dozen of them but never paid more than a dollar or two for one. I just like them.

I like them because they were the first modern comm.

And they are 90 percent silver.

Exactly. Good points. I feel there is something special about them being the first.

Yes, they are very nice coins. Good design, first commemorative struck in almost three decades, dedicated to the 250th birthday of "His Excellency" George Washington, 90% silver and relatively cheap to boot.

I like them and have about 50 of 'em. If I can buy them around silver melt at my local shops I'll keep buying them, too!

I bought both of them (uncirculated and proof) from the mint in 1982. They are in my 7070 now. I never plan to sell, so no concern for premiums.

Don't have one yet but glad to see they are out there at reasonable prices for future purchasing.
