I have this 1931 P Mercury dime I could not find any VAM attributions for. Is this a rarity or so common no one mentions it. LOL

I am new to these terms what is MD and DDD. What about this 1931-P mercury date. Is this Doubled or just smushed?

Looks just smushed. MD=Machine Doubled...DDD=Deteriorated Die Doubling. Here is a link to many types of doubling, make sure to read the whole page and click on the photos. You may want to bookmark that link http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...Doubling.htmJohn1

Thank you John, ken Potter has a bank vault of knowledge I have bookmarked his page. I have a treasure trove of DDO, DDR, and RPM errors or MD DDD errors, as you suggested above, in about 100 mercury and Roosevelt dimes I am just now digging into. I bought a collection of over 200 dimes most in MS state full bands I had no idea was full with mint errors. Imagine my surprise when my first loop look landed on these 2 1946-P Roosevelt's. I searched everywhere to be sure I wasnt dreaming.

I was wondering, but it does have a complete doubled D. Its hard to see in the picture you can see the remnants of the complete D on the left side 1/4 way down and reemerging at the bottom and to the left. It shows perfectly under a loop. My magnifier is not the best. It's why I was seriously considering a 42/1 also. By the way does anyone have a recommendation for a USB camera with 1-80 power for taking great pictures.

I'm far from anything even resembling an expert but I think I see what you're talkin about. It looks reminiscent of the 1956 D Lincoln Wheat cent RPM-008
