Hello all. I am new to gold and am looking for a little advice. I finally purchased a random year BU Staint-Gaudens Double Eagle and received a 1925. 2,831,750 minted. I have looked around a bit and by comparing the condition of my coin to examples of other, I am guessing it would grade well, maybe? I am seeing a wide price range for similar coins.
My original plan was to handle the coin, and didn't mind paying the premium in order to have a prettier piece. So I am wondering if I should get the coin graded to preserve possible value, or whether the condition premium is not worth the expense and trouble of grading.
Expertise or advice appreciated! thanks

photo's would help us evaluate your coin, for grading purposes.. but if you bought the coin for bullion or close to melt plus premium, then there is probably little chance of a grading helping with the value of your coin..once you consider the premium you paid, and the potential grading fees..

For a 1925, grading really doesn't add a nice premium untill you get a 66 or above. But it still is a beautiful coin - put it in a black ringed AirTite.

Pretty coin, and I agree with the post immediately above. Put it in the AirTite holder, then you can hold it without causing any inadvertent damage.

The coin looks to be MS63 or MS64. It may not add much value, but grading could make it easier to sell. If you are planing to buy more coins from seller, it may not be a bad idea to have the coin graded to confirm coin is BU with no issues.

Your coin appears to be a nice gold piece that might grade as high as MS64. At that level the cost of certification exceeds the value gained by certification. It looks genuine in the images and that's the main thing. I would weigh (33.4 grams nominal) it for peace of mind and put it in Air-Tite and store it in a safe place. Good luck!

Worth submitting for authenticity. It will be much easier to sell it when the time comes. Coin looks MS-63 to me.

TPG's are much more lenient with minor scratches on gold coins when grading. I have this one at MS64
