Another White Whale of mine is this book. It is limited edition, leather bound with a printing of 500. The last time I saw it for sale, it was $1000 on Amazon. I did mange to find it archived! Thanks for that link! I have always liked the 3 cent nickels. I'll check mine to see if I've got anything interesting.
Just took a quick look at mine and noticed a nice double punched date on my 1870. It looks like the 1870B06a variety in the book.

Thanks for the link to the PDF book. I have had this on my want list for years now, I passed on copies at $250, I just don't see it being worth that much. Have you checked out Gary Rosner's site? He is a specialist in 3 cent nickels and had/has a lot of Gifford's personal and plate coins from the book for sale on his website over the past few years. https://www.3centnickel.com/"Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R. Holy smokes! Sorry for the thread necromancy, but wow.... I had no idea. I bought this maybe a dozen years ago for about a hundred bucks, maybe a little more, but #70 here... I love this series, and I love obsolete type.  |

Yep that's a keeper, and one book I haven't found at a reasonable price yet, so only the PDF is in my library. Great book, Keven Flynn came out with one as well and one on silver Three Cent pieces, but Giffords' is the bible for that series still. "Buy the Book Before You Buy the Coin" - Aaron R.
