Finally completed the set last week. It was fun putting it together because it was compact (11 notes) and had some tough notes, some scarcer notes, and some easy notes. The set ranges from the 1935 Plain star through the 1935H star, including both the Wide and Narrow versions of the 1935D issue and the No Motto and With Motto versions of the 1935G issue. They were issued over a 30 year period from 1935 to 1965. I made no effort to go after the 1935 Hawaii, North Africa and Experimental R an S stars, nor the two mule stars from 1935 and 1935A. Way over my pocketbook. I completed the set in about 6 months, about what I expected. I typically passed on 3-6 examples of each before I found one at a reasonable price. For those interested, I spent just under $2,500 for the group, with nearly 40% of that going for the elusive 1935 Plain note. I have shown many of these individually on the forum, but if anyone would like to see any of them full size, just advise. Can't see much in these pics but felt a group shot would be easier on everyone's eyes than showing them one at a time (yawn). Edited by Coinfrog 02/03/2019 4:22 pm

Wonderful quality! Great job, I see both PCGS and PMG..do you have a preference? just curious...all my hometown Nationals are PCGS..just because that's where they started...But I have notes in both holders

You have to love it when a plan comes together and you complete a set, a numismatic goal.
Well done Mr.Frog, well done.

This thread got me looking at my small size $1 Silvers and to my dismay, I've discovered I do not own one 1935 plain note. I have a ton of 35A's and every other letter through the 35H, but not one 35 plain. I better get busy.

Thanks everyone. I don't collect this way as a rule, but got intrigued after buying the 1935A star on impulse at a local show. This seemed a "do-able" project after ruling out the 1928 series as too expensive (ask Steve ) and the 1957 series as too common. It was not my main collecting focus during this period, just a side project that indulged my "hole-filling" disorder. babysitr - My general goal was just 65PQ or better, which seemed attainable. I would never submit notes to PCGS, because I think they're less consistent than PMG, but I have no problem buying them if they're correctly (or under) graded. In this set, all of the PCGS notes are solid for grade or better in my view.

Inspiration for us all. I'm going to start on that quest once I finish my "base base" 1935 SC set -- just a couple to go.

Base: 66+ grades of '35, A, HI, NA, B, C, DW, DN, E, F, GNM, G, H. Will skip the experimental notes. I have a PMG 64 NA SC that will need to be upgraded at some point.
Stars: not sure yet but probably your path: 65+ grades of 35, A, B, C, DW, DN, E, F, GNM, G, H.
