I wonder if this is the old Accugrade, the industry pariah? Not taht it makes any difference, since ebay won't allow their coins to be sold except as raw.

Well he sure has an inflated opinion of the value of his company. I don't think DLRC paid anywhere close to that for PCI!. Also I have been doing slab companies and varieties for some time now and I am aware of at least two companies that have gone by ACGS. This isn't either one of them. I've never heard of this company before. So in effect he wants $250,000 for a start up fly by night company that has little or no presence in the marketplace.

Hmmm....feedback of ZERO and selling a grading company.
Can't ask for more information than that.
Does it also come with a highly trained staff that works for free?
I think I'll pass.

Well, I've met some great coin dealers here and this represents the other end of the spectrum.

Thanks for all of your comments regarding my company, Accurate Coin Grading Service.
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Philip Start, I am the owner, founder, and President of Accurate Coin Grading Service. We are located here in Charlton City, Massachusetts. I have a keen eye for grading and I have been involved in numismatics for over 30 years. As a collector, a buyer, trader, and seller.
As you are all familiar with the more well-known grading services-there was a time when they were all new companies and had to start somewhere. As it is with my company, which I started about 2 years ago, getting our name and service out there takes time. The reasons I started this company are the following: (and seeing all of you have strong opinions-see if some of these reasons sound familiar.)
Number one, I was frustrated by the delay in receiving my coins back from PCGS and NGC. I have waited up to 2 months to get some coins back from them.
Number 2 is cost, some coins cost $25-30 or more to get graded.
Number 3, their grading standards have changed over time, making for an inconsistent market of coins from the same companies-that is not good, it defeats their purpose for existing. If their standards change, how can you completely trust them to be accurate? WHat will happen in the future-will their standards change again? An old green holder from PCGS MS63, might now be considered an MS64. Now you have to pay again to get it up-graded.
My grading standards have never changed, never will. I am consistent and conservative. You never have to worry that I will change my opinion based on WHO sent in the coin for grading, or when. Today tomorrow or 10 years from now.
My fees are about half the price of the other companies.
I will return your coins to you within a week.
Those are some of the major reasons I started my own grading service---better service, faster service, personal service, consistent grading standards, all at a lower cost versus the other companies. I also have more experience than many of the people actually grading coins for the other services.
The reason I was selling my company is that my wife and I just had a baby and I did not feel I could devote enough time to grow this company the way I wanted to, and I was offering the opportunity to someone who did have the time and resources to do so. If you have any further questions, comments, please feel free to contact me:
Warmest regards, Phil Start President, Accurate Coin Grading Service

That's a very bold statement. One I am sure that every grader at every TPG has once said. How will you go about keeping your grading standards from changing? It is easy to say, but it is hard to do. A coin submitted to you tomorrow that you grade MS63, 5 years from now if cracked out and resubmitted by someone else, you could possibly grade MS64. There is no way to guarantee your grading standards couldn't/wouldn't change. Good luck with your company

I would buy SGS before this one. At least all the coins are perfect and it makes grading easier that way. No staff necessary.

I believe you when you say your standards won't change...yet you are "selling" your grading company. Every kids lemonade stand puts a different amount of sugar in the mix no matter what the original recipe called for. Quote: You never have to worry that I will change my opinion based on WHO sent in the coin for grading, or when. Today tomorrow or 10 years from now. You cannot hold to that statement. Our opinions change over time because our experiences are ever changing us. Quote: I will return your coins to you within a week.........I have waited up to 2 months to get some coins back from them. If ever ACGS were to get the sheer volume of coins graded every day then it'd take that long as well. 17 million coins and counting Quote: some coins cost $25-30 or more to get graded. You get what you pay for. Anyone can put a stab together but their guarantee is backed by the reputation of the company....not the guarantee on the box. Quote: there was a time when they were all new companies and had to start somewhere. True and they were the idealists that set a firm foundation of what true grading standards ought to be. Sure they have wavered from time to time but the problem is that there are hundreds of "companies" that want a piece of the pie and they sacrifice standards for a get rich quick scheme. Welcome to our wonderful Forum. We hope that you will stick around. Best of luck in your endeavors of selling your company and congrats on your new child.

ADDITIONAL GRADING SERVICES * Resubmissions - Any coin currently encapsulated in an authentic ACGS Holder may be resubmitted at any time for re-evaluation. Regular submission fees will apply.

Quote: I wonder why it took so long for him to respond to this thread,as,it was started back in august? Most likely because the listing on ebay and the subsequent selling of his company did not happen. So chances are the baby is doing well, and he now has time to devote to this new service. Only two thoughts/comments for you Phil: 1. Welcome to the forum. I can only hope that our grading standards that we use here per se rub off on you. 2. The proof is in the pudding. Show us some of your examples and we will certainly be able to judge for ourselves. I commend you for coming here and explaining and defending your venture. Unfortunately in this day and age words are not sufficient. Good luck with your company, and know that you are welcome here for the learning experience that this place is. We have collectors with more years experience than yourself that are still learning new things every day.

please stick around. I would like to see some examples of your grading. As you correctly pointed out every one has to start somewhere. It would not do your business any harm at all if you won us bunch of cynics over.
