Poll Question
If it were well within your coin budget would you purchase a 1995-W Proof ASE at today's prices? If a no or maybe, at what price would you purchase one, if at all?

Like others, if it were within my budget and I needed one to complete a set, I would purchase one.

Nope, because I am not building this set. I might otherwise, but never for speculation.

Interesting topic, Does Anyone know what the U S Mint was asking for the original 3 coin set, I believe that was the ONLY way the 1995-W ASE was offered too..........PS, I would also say, that speculation and this ASE did well together, Actually, I recall the ASE alone was around $4500.00 not long ago Now around $3800.00 New ?.

Thank You, Alpha... Still a GREAT investment.........The Today asking price of $3800.00 for the Silver ASE alone is a Great profit.... PS, I still can't believe the original allotted mintage did NOT sell out too...

I did not want to pay approximately $250 for the coin in 1995. Still no interest as I don't care much for the entire series. They were supposed to be bullion coins when introduced in '86 but have become just another U.S. Mint cash cow with all the types and varieties of what is basically a boring retread design. Really boring after 33 years.

the 95-W proof is really the only ASE left for me to get. I'm happy with my ASE collection.

Today it's hard to imagine and if they did it again it would obviously sell out in minutes. That said at the time I don't think it was much of a surprise. ASEs were no where near as popular back then as they are today and having to buy all the gold to get it was both a big turn off and a financial hindrance to most collectors.

Well, I for one wish I had started collecting them in 1994 instead of in 1999.
