For my 500th post May I present a 1938-D WLH. I now have only two coins to go to complete the set- the 21-P and the 21-D. This is one of two I purchased over the last couple weeks, the other was just friday, so no pics yet. Not a real tough coin to find, but tough to find uncleaned around here apparently. I have been looking for the past year at the shop for a nice original coin, we have several in stock but they are mostly cleaned or very worn. When I saw this one, I snatched it up ! and the next one too ! I bought this one at VG price, but with the sandal detail- I think it has a shot at F- What say You ?

It looks like a solid F-12 to me in terms of wear. The two small rim dings on the obverse are slightly distracting and will hurt the value a little; I could see a net grade of VG-10 as a result. It does appear to have decent surfaces and I see no obvious signs of cleaning.

Just two more to go? You'll be due for a Milestone smiley pretty soon! And, congratulations on your Pillar post!

Might it have been in a piece of jewelry or a belt buckle at some point?

I agree, a net of VG10.
