Another of my dad's coins, grade me please:

1865-III-Cent,-Grade-Me
1865-III-Cent,-Grade-Me
Is this a die crack or an error, or PMD?

These are straight from my Celestron scope, do I have too much light or good? I can adjust up/down as needed. This thing is great for the small coins.

I'm thinking this coin has seen a harsh, or improper cleaning sometime in it's past life. Am I right on that?

It is a common coin in AVG Circ condition. Value around 20 bucks.

VF-35. I think it straight grades. This series is notorious for die cracks. Your reverse is very nice, usually you see a lot of strike weakness there on this year.

VF25/30 I agree it's a die clash on reverse.

I see the whole inverted profile die clash left of the III in the second image - nose, lips, chin. Check the varieties forum for a link to an online reference - there's like 40 pages of 1865 varieties.

XF - you have very nice example. Most of these nickels do not have the lines in the III on the reverse very well-defined. You do!

VF. I agree, the stripes are not alway present, but that is strike related, not wear related. I can't get this to EF territory in my mind. Straight grade and a decent little coin.

VF30 details, environmental damage. Usual die breaks/cracks and clash marks.
